2026 Family Reunion

We have just signed a contract to reserve a block of rooms with the Woodlands Hotel in Williamsburg and are beginning to look into dinner options. We took a tour and see they have nice rooms, a beautiful pool and children’s water playground – as well as a shaded mini golf course, ping pong tables, a volleyball court, shuffleboard. This is a very family friendly hotel. More details will follow.
We are excited to host in Williamsburg. It should be an exciting time in the historic city, as it will be a week before the country's 250th birthday! The city has a bus that stops at the hotel and in the historic area. The historic area is also within walking distance. We expect Williamsburg will be crowded and some special events will be on tap for the 250th celebration. We have a limited number of guaranteed rooms and are a little concerned the hotel will book fully, so we urge you to make a reservation ASAP. Our guaranteed rate is $139 per night (with current taxes and fees $178.18). This rate will hold for a couple days before and a couple days after the reunion – subject to availability. To book a room, call the group reservations office at (800) 261-9530 between 9 and 5 EST Monday through Friday. Identify yourself as being with the Sundt Family Reunion. If you have any problems, please contact us (emails below). If our block of rooms fills up, we can obtain more (assuming there is availability), though the rate could change a bit. The reunion should be a fun experience for us all.

- The room rate (including taxes and resort fee) would be $178.18 per night. This is the rate they will charge us for each night. Thus, staying Thursday-Sunday would cost $535 ($300 less than at Virginia Beach) and staying just Friday and Saturday would cost $357. Regular rates this year (not including taxes or the $20 resort fee) for weekdays are $110; for weekends (F&S) $152-179. For comparison purposes our rate (without taxes or fee) is $139.
- Walking distance to Colonial Williamsburg’s 301 acre Historic Area (the world’s largest outdoor living history museum) and Merchant’s Square, featuring over 40 restaurants and shops! 2 complimentary historic area tickets valid for the length of stay are included per room. (Tickets purchased on site cost $31.50/day.)
- By staying at Colonial Williamsburg, we will also get priority when booking guides, evening programs and tavern meals – if we choose to do so.
- The Woodlands Hotel has 1 hospitality suite that can hold 18-20 people available at a cost of $1,535 for Thursday-Sunday inclusive. We could use this as our Family Room.
- Their conference room will be under renovation; however, they could host our evening and/or brunch meal at another property (specifically, the Williamsburg Lodge Conference Center). There are also lots of restaurants in the area that might be able to host us.

- For history buffs, Jamestown Settlement is 7.1 miles away and Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center is 14 miles away.
- Busch Gardens is 5.3 miles away.
- Water Country water park is 5 miles away.
- The College of William & Mary is 1 mile away (directly next to Colonial Williamsburg). The college has a beautiful campus with grounds almost like a botanical garden.
- The Muscarelle Museum of Art is 2 miles away.
- Williamsburg Premium Outlets, a large outdoor mall, is 4.3 miles away.
Virginia Beach is just over 1 hour away from Williamsburg. If the reunion takes place in Williamsburg but you would like to go to the beach, we would recommend coming a day or two early and booking a hotel at the lower weekday rate. Hotels without meeting rooms also cost less (still likely around $200/night). Weekday travel to the beach should not be too difficult, but weekend travel to the beach will be VERY congested. There is a 2 lane bridge/tunnel between Williamsburg and Virginia Beach that can get backed up even when it is accident free.
There are airports in Richmond, Newport News, and Norfolk. Norfolk would be closest to Virginia Beach. Richmond’s airport is about 45 minutes from Williamsburg. Newport News’ airport is about 30 minutes from Williamsburg.
