Please wear something bright, festive & casual.

Marijohn "MJ" Sundt died peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at
Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla surrounded by her family after
complications relating to a heart attack. Marijohn was born on February 13,
1933, in Tucson, Arizona. She had just celebrated her 84th birthday.
Marijohn was the daughter of John S. Sundt, who brought M. M. Sundt
Construction Co. to Tucson in 1929, and Marion R. Sundt. After high school,
Marijohn attended Denver University for 2 1/2 years to become a nurse, at St.
Luke's Hospital. Marriage intervened with her nursing career and the
following years were spent being a home maker and raising 5 children in
Tucson. Marijohn loved playing tennis, doing water activities and playing
golf. She enjoyed watching sports, especially football on television, and she
was a major college football fan. She also loved to travel and traveled all
around the world. One of her favorite trips was to Norway to see where her
grandfather, Mauritz Martinsen Sundt, a Norwegian ship carpenter, lived
before he immigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Las Vegas,
New Mexico, with his 12 children and his wife Thea. Marijohn lived in Tucson
and Pinetop, Arizona for most of her life, and moved to San Diego, California,
on a permanent basis about 10 years ago where she loved the ocean and the
beach and was a well-loved resident of Wesley Palms Retirement Community.
Marijohn was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend and will always be
remembered for her laughter and sense of humor, her colorful outgoing
personality and her love of life. She was a shining light and she will be deeply
missed. Marijohn is preceded in death by the father of her children, John F.
Bartlett, her son Sid Bartlett and her daughter Janice Bartlett Rogers. She is
survived by her sister Marilyn Sundt Isaacks of Sonoita, Arizona; daughter
Mari Bartlett and son Fred Bartlett both of Tucson, Arizona; son Kenny
Bartlett of San Diego, California; granddaughter Courtney Bartlett Kumar
(husband Ash) and great-grandchildren Archer and Annika Kumar all of
Chatsworth, California; granddaughter Korie Rogers Keith (husband Randy)
of Show Low, Arizona; grandson Dustin Rogers of Glendale, Arizona;
grandson Adam Bartlett (wife Paula) of Glendale, California; grandson Scott
Bartlett (partner Lauren Sickles) of Garden Grove, California; Mariza
Bartlett (mother of Adam and Scott) of Sierra Vista, Arizona; Lynn Johnson
(mother of Courtney) of Lakeville, Minnesota. The family invites you to a
Celebration of Marijohn's Life on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 10 o'clock in
the morning, at The Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 North Alvernon Way,
Tucson, Arizona 85712. Marijohn's wish is that in lieu of flowers, that family
and friends, please make a donation to your favorite charity.

Following are some last minute reminders and information (see attached for more details):

Don't forget to bring the family books - we will have a room so these can be on display.  We will also have some board games, cards and dominos if people want to play and visit.  If you have a favorite game that travels well, please bring it.

Don't forget to schedule your transportation from the airport with the hotel if you are taking advantage of that service. Wyndham Garden Hotel Amarillo, 3100 I-40 West, Amarillo, Texas 79102, phone 806-358-6161.

Golfers, tee time is 9:00 a.m. on Friday at Tomahawk course at the Comanche Trail Golf Complex.  The course is about 10 minutes form the hotel.  We'll have a map in your registration packet and if you need a ride, let me know and we'll coordinate that.  There is no listed dress code for the course but check out the website for more information: The course is in great shape and should prove to be a good play.

Remember to pack a light jacket and cap if you are going to the Texas Play as the afternoon sun is hot and the nights get cool in the canyon.  Dress comfortably!  The show continues rain or shine.

Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. we will take family/tribe pictures on the West Texas A&M (WTAMU) campus close to the Panhandle Plains Museum.  It is about a 20 minute drive from the hotel to WTAMU so you'll need to leave the hotel by 4:00 p.m.  If you don't have your own transportation, we'll meet in the  hotel lobby at 3:45 p.m. to get everyone loaded in the van and a few suburbans and be on our way.  Dress is casual dressy.  We will be touring the museum so wear comfortable shoes.

Join us Sunday for a worship service followed by the Family Business Meeting.

We will have more information in your registration packets.  Plan to come, relax, catch up on family news and see some of the sights in the Texas panhandle.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Tom and Karen Mitchell

Dear Tor Andre and Family,

I was saddened to hear of the passing of your dear father. Steinar was a very good man and taught you well.
I know you will hold his memory dear in your thoughts and prayers. May God bless his soul and all of your family.

We very much enjoyed meeting and visiting with Steinar and Oddbjorg and you and my mother Maren when we got together
at Sundt family reunions in Colorado and Missouri.

Please convey our sympathies and love to your mother, Oddbjorg and your sister Kristin as well as the rest of your family.

We just had a Stacey family reunion here in Anchorage, Alaska last week for our son Thor’s 37th birthday.
A photo of the group toasting our relatives is attached. Please send it on to your family.
We also had two relatives from Canada here for the reunion from the Stacey side of the family,
Alison Currie and her daughter Sue Hellman.  (Double click the photo to enlarge it.)

With much love and in the bonds of family,

Dennis Stacey

Dear Betty Kay:

Thank you for all of your tireless work on behalf of the Sundt family.
You do a wonderful job of keeping the family informed of significant family events, sad or joyous.

Life finds my family doing very well. All are happy and in excellent health and here in Alaska.

I am attaching a fairly recent photo from Thanksgiving of a duck hunt with my sons and grandson in Juneau, AK.
It was a fine day, with clear sunny weather and lots of ducks.

I hope we can make the next family reunion, but no promises! I want to reintroduce my sons and daughter-in-law
to the Sundt Family.

With love and in the bonds of family,

Dennis Stacey

Picture on varslekt-Tor Andre"s house

Steinar Johnsen (Tor Andre’s father) passed away on Tuesday, August 11th.  He was a baker and a very jovial person.  He had prostate cancer for the last 12 years and it suddenly spread to his bones.  Unfortunately he has been in terrible pain for the last year.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Johnsen family.  Steinar and his wife Oddbjorg attended the Sundt family reunion in Missouri with Tor Andre’ and their daughter Kristin.  They all came to New Mexico after the reunion and spent time at the CS Ranch and in Albuquerque.

Here are the addresses of the Johnsen family:
